Oh yes, the age old question, If God loves us, why does he allow so much suffering to take place ? Perhaps the question is better answered what if there was no God to turn to in times of need ? What does the Bible say ? Why do Christians suffer ?
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation."(2 Corinthians 1)
Faith without works is dead, faith without love is dead. God is love, Christians, are you returning the love, consolation, and comfort you received in your times of need to others ? God is consolation , He will deliver us from suffering, which many, many people are experiencing today. As a Christian, do you feel as though you are going through a spiritual attack ? Then rejoyce !
"Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy."(1 Peter 4)
Perhaps your not a Christian, but still feel as if you are suffering and being attacked from all sides,perhaps it is a feeling of being totally alone in this world... you too may rejoyce !, for God is allowing this to happen, so you may turn to Him, and receive His preciouse promises. You are being called by God Almighty !!
Jesus walked in this world, He knows how we feel;
"He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
Surely He has borne our griefs But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."(Isaiah 53)
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."(Philippians 4)
As Christians, suffering always requires a response of Love, whether human or divine."Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator."
