And the King will answer and say to them
"Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you
did it to one of the least of these my brethern,
you did it to Me"
Matthew 25, v40
Mission Statement
To honor God by seeing the face of Christ in every person we serve
"For I was hungry and you gave Me food"
Matthew 25v35
Redding Loaves and Fishes provides a three day supply of food to persons in need. In addition, Redding Loaves and Fishes aims to equip people with the tools they need to make a positive change in their lives. Our volunteers are charitable members of the faith community, are screened, and trained on site. These volunteers use their Gifts of the Spirit to help our clients, whether it is packing bags, soliciting food donations, or offering faith based counseling. When warranted, Redding Loaves and Fishes makes referrals to other additional area charity programs, and food banks, based on each person's individual needs. It is known that when various non-profit programs work together the result is the greatest benefit to the homeless, low income poverty, and those with food insecurities in Redding and Shasta County.
Another aspect of Redding Loaves and Fishes is our used Bible distribution. We make Bibles available to any client who expresses a desire to know God's Word. These Bibles are donated by individuals and churches, and vary in translation, which make it helpful for the clients in that they can choose the translation that is easiest for them to understand. We often receive special Bibles aimed at children and teens, too. All Bibles are given free of charge. Our Daily Bread devotional booklets are also available and freely given.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THOSE WHO NEED FOOD:
Please bring a social security card, Passport to Services, photo I.D. and proof of residency (rent receipt or current utility bill). Be prepared to inform us of the circumstances that led you to need food assistance. We need this information to get an adequate picture of the causes of financial hardship in the area and what our clients need to avoid this hardship in the future.
It is a very rare instance when we refuse food assistance to a client. Our job is not to judge you, but to help you obtain food! Although we limit emergency food assistance for a client to once a month, we understand that some folks have special circumstances such as permanent disability. In the case of an ongoing special circumstance, we waive our policy. You may also be eligible for additional monthly government commodities, which are available from Shasta Senior Nutrition; if so, we’ll give you a referral so you can have the food you need.
Our goal is to prevent food poverty, and provide Faith , Hope , and Charity , in Jesus name
