June 2007 Ministry Blog

        "Behold, the days are coming"

            says the Lord God,

"That I will send a famine on the land,

                      Not a famine of bread,

                           Nor a thirst for water,

But of hearing the words of the Lord."

                                                                 Amos 8,v11

Unfortunately, Redding Loaves and Fishes has experienced several web site hackings and one computer crash, but we are pleased to say our monthly blog is back up and running! Image

With a monthly budget of 650 dollars, and the wonderful generosity of the community, we are truly grateful to humbly be part of the continuing loaves and fishes miracle! Curves for Women, 2275 Eureka Way , hosted a food drive for the entire month of March , collecting enough food to feed hundreds of people, Wow ! We were also blessed when a representative of A.T.&T stopped by with a suprise check donation. Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Parish sent over a very nice donation check and ten heaping bags of groceries ! Thank you so much for considering us. We at Redding Loaves and Fishes wish to thank all who bless us with charitable donations, but one has significantly touched our hearts...Image

You see a young man by the name of Robert, for the second time in as many years, stopped by our sunset market food drive, and faithfully put in his saved allowance, a substantial donation for a boy of eleven. God Bless you Robert, "May you always with joy draw water from the wells of salvation."

We have been working hard to defend the constitutional rights of the poor and homeless men, women, children, and veterans here in Redding and Shasta County. Here is a recent radio interview discussing one of the civil rights issues.

Its that time of the year again, our food bank and ministry funds are running extremely low. It is our prayer that Churches here in Redding and Shasta County will consider us during their yearly charity budget and local non profit considerations. We are in need of help to get us through these difficult summer months. Volunteer positions in client computer intake as well as donation facilitators are much needed. Food and gas prices have risen, and so has hunger, both physical and spiritual in our community. We continue to see an increase in single mothers with children in extreme poverty, often on the verge of homelessness. At Redding Loaves and Fishes we believe the world is not looking for a better sermon on Christian Love, but a better demonstration of it. We are asking local businesses, charities, and individuals to please consider our Christian food bank ministry, to help us honor God by seeing the face of Christ in every person we serve, and continue to bless others, in Jesus name!
