Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be put into your bosom. For the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. Luke 6, v38 Shasta County Fair Grounds, Anderson, California: The Canstruction to K.O. Hunger was held at the Shasta County Fair Grounds this weekend, sponsored by the Shasta Builders Exchange, and the Society of Design Administration. Trademarked by the Society for Design Administration, and working in tandem with the American Institute of Architects and other members of the design and construction industry, Canstruction® is making a significant contribution to the fight against HUNGER. Canstruction® combines the competitive spirit of a design/build competition with a unique way to help feed hungry people. Competing teams, lead by architects and engineers, showcase their talents by designing giant sculptures made entirely out of canned foods. At the close of the exhibitions all of the food used in the structures is donated to local food banks for distribution to pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, elderly and day care centers The four entries for this first and hopefully yearly event benefited these local charities; Redding Loaves and Fishes, Living Hope Compassion Ministries, Shasta Senior Nutrition Program, and the Good News Rescue Mission. Redding Loaves and Fishes received the entry designed by TRILOGY Architecture and Habitat for Humanity Shasta Cascade titled "Food for Thought". With 2000 cans of food , at $1950.00 dollars, it was a much needed blessing at exactly Gods perfect timing !
Descriptive Paragraph "Just as food is essential to life, so too are dreams. Without food, there is no life; without dreams there is little reason to live. Our world is built on a solid base with a mixture of "comfort " foods such as soup, baked beans, and tuna fish. But we strive for a healthier lifestile of mixed ( vegetable ) use of buildings and ( fruit juice ) towers. And in the end, we cannot forget the need for at least one Plaza " Sweets " Hotel. Since it's hard to dream of a better world when you are desperatly hungry, heres to a new and better place where food and imagination are intertwined." Team: James Theimer, Captain. Jim Koenigsaeker, Kirk Wayman, Kristi Hanson, Christel Sam. Other entries at the competition included: "CANifornia Agriculture" by CH2M Hill
