According to America’s Second Harvest, a leading national advocate to end hunger, “One in four people standing in a soup line kitchen is a child. “ This rings true in Shasta County. We continue to see an increase in single mothers with children in extreme poverty, often on the verge of homelessness. Loaves and Fishes has seen a huge increase in single parents and grandparents coming in with hungry children. Let’s face it, we live in a service based community. Would you be able to house and feed your children if you were a single parent working in the service industry in Shasta County? While we cannot remedy the political and social issues of our county, we can step it up to meet the needs of our precious younger generation.

WOW! 2007 is already behind us! RLF is busy gearing up for the months ahead. RLF closed for a short break and plans on re-opening on January 12, 2008 ready to go! While we are concerned about the decrease in donations, we trust that God will provide. After all, it is by the grace of God that RLF has distributed over 15,098 bags of groceries to the less fortunate in Shasta County with over 6,000 of those being children. That does not include over 975 bibles, sleeping bags, hygiene products, diapers, pet food, children’s school supplies and toys that were distributed. RLF is 100% volunteer and 100% donation driven and we wouldn’t have it any other way! |

Redding Loaves and Fishes, as well as the homeless and poor of Redding and Shasta County are facing a terrible crisis, with the problem growing to epidemic proportions. Seems as though the Good News Rescue Mission, the largest supplier of charitably prepared meals and lodging in Redding, is facing trouble from local home owners in the area, accusing them of drawing the down and out to a neighborhood that prefers to think of itself as up and coming, with littering and trespassing problems. |

January has seen a shocking number of people needing food assistance here in Redding and Shasta County. Could we possibly be in the final generation Jesus spoke about? Are we continually being tested by God to produce fruit? and show the Love of Christ? Bible prophecy is becoming todays news ! |
